Someone wise once said, "Time is what we want most and what we use worst". Still knowing this fact, we don't manage time. Time management is critical to everyone and especially to those who are hoping to study online.
In online studies, you are in control of your learning and pace, and it's crucial for you to understand how to manage your time well, to make enough room for your online courses and the rest of your responsibilities.
Why does online study need proper time management?
The truth is that time is just like any other finite resource. If you don't learn how to manage your time wisely, you won't be able to get things done as efficiently as possible. Because it's easy to digress or lose concentration while studying online.
However, you need to set aside some time to study and go through the lessons. This requires discipline and a real understanding of how to wisely use your time throughout the day.
Is it possible to manage your time better?
Of course, it is! While some people may be naturally gifted in organizing themselves, time management is a skill that can be easily enabled in everyday lifestyle. Here are a few time management tips to keep you productive.
1. Prepare to devote precise hours to your studies -
Prepare a weekly or monthly study schedule. Your schedule could include bed timings, meal timings, time for breaks and most importantly, the time you should spend on studies. Test this schedule for at least a month and try adjusting it till it doesn't produce desired results.
2. Keep yourself motivated -
Self-motivation is one of the hardest skills to develop in life, but there are a few ways that will effectively develop it. Treat yourself with your favourite dessert or an episode of the beloved TV show, so that you feel extra motivation to finish your work.
E.g. Sanju sets a deadline for himself for every task, 'If I finish this by 2:00, I will get a cup of coffee.' This extra bit of motivation will surely get your work done quickly.
3. Set timelines for assignments (No matter big or small) -
Instead of just finishing everything in one go, consider the amount of work you have, and the time it will take to complete.
E.g. If you have five practice exercises and an assignment paper due. Set a timeline for both such as 0.5 hours for one practice test and 2 hours for the assignment. No matter what you choose to do first, stick to the timeline.
We can't stop or control time. However, if you want to take control of your online learning and make the best of it, you need to learn how to manage time. Follow a few simple steps and lead your way to manage time effectively and efficiently.
Remember, it takes time to be successful, but time is all it takes.
